Railinc DDCT Rail Industry Application on Track for January Launch - "We want to ensure that railroads, repair shops and equipment owners are aware of the DDCT project and understand how it will affect their operations…"

Cary, NC, June 29, 2010 (James Street Media Services) -- Railinc announced today that the new Damaged and Defective Car Tracking (DDCT) system is on track and on target for launch in January, 2011. The DDCT system is a centralized, web-based application that replaces paper defect cards and eliminates the need for defect card brackets by automating the manual process for identifying and tracking damaged and defective rail cars. Rail industry interchange and car hire rules require all carriers, car owners and repair shops to use the DDCT system. More information is available about the DDCT project at www.railinc.com/ddct.

"DDCT is an important tool for improving rail operations," said Nichole Fimple, Railinc product manager, asset health and business services. "It provides a standardized system for reporting, retrieving and sharing information that improves data reliability and communication among rail partners. Development is on schedule for a January, 2011 launch, but we still have critical milestones to reach before the system can be implemented."

There are a number of activities that users can begin doing to prepare for the DDCT launch. Railinc and the DDCT technical advisory group are providing a variety of training opportunities, including presentations at town hall meetings and industry events, webinars, online web demos and a pre-production system for practicing critical system tasks.
